MISSION

SPACETIME is a consortium of researchers dedicated to understanding the co-evolution of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and immune responses. The outcome knowledge on the tumour microenvironment will be essential to recognise and understand therapy resistance in patients. Learn more about our team and projects.
STRATEGY

SPACE: Focus on cellular communities
A cancer is not a random scattering of cells. Tumour microenvironments are organised tissues with local cell communities that regulate immune reactivity, potentially dictating therapy resistance. Through single cell spatial -omics technologies, innovative disease models, and machine learning, SPACETIME will generate a multi-layered characterisation and understanding of the tumour immune microenvironment.
TIME: Focus on tumour-host co-evolution
Microenvironments co-evolve over time with the tumour from initiation in premalignant stages to malignancy and invasiveness. SPACETIME will decipher the trajectories of this evolution, with a focus on the transition from cancer initiation to progression, by analysing patient samples from early to late stage disease, and complementing this with pre-clinical disease models.
VISION

SPACETIME aims to understand spatial organisation and temporal changes within the tumour microenvironment to allow personalised treatment selection. We aim to integrate the generated information into the creation of a tool for clinical decision making, that will directly benefit lung cancer patients.
